It’s almost the Fourth of July! We’ve partnered with IZZE to bring you a festive blueberry cocktail cocktail, just in time for the holiday. Although it’s so refreshing that we’ll be drinking this all summer long…
Are you one of those lucky people who has never broken a bone? A few weeks ago, I broke my dominant hand playing softball. I won’t bore you with the details, but it has made life reeeeaaaallllyyy frustrating.
I am a pretty clumsy person to begin with, and this is really the icing on the cake. Since breaking my hand, I have dropped my phone countless times and even shattered the screen (thankfully my clumsiness is such a given that I had insurance on the phone!). I have knocked over glasses, spilled food everywhere, dropped everything I’ve touched, knocked my bad hand against walls and doorways, and even managed to get stuck getting out of the car once. Thankfully Carla was there to witness THAT experience.
Despite me not being able to cook, we’re still hosting a Fourth of July bash. It will be more of a potluck than normal, and we’re giving it a theme this year. Each of our guests is bringing a dish that represents their cultural heritage. We are very proud of the fact that The United States is a country full of people with diverse backgrounds, and we’re going to celebrate that through food! Since we’re hosting, we’ll provide delicious beverages as well. We’ll put out bottles of festive Blueberry IZZE for the kids, and the adults can use Mint Simple Syrup and the alcohol of their choice to make a delicious cocktail.
I’m off the heavy painkillers now, which means I’ll be celebrating the Fourth of July with one of these Blueberry Mint Fizzes. I’ll take mine with gin, extra berries, and a fun straw, please! Isn’t that the ironic thing about major surgeries and breaking bones? You’ve never needed a drink more, but you can’t have one because of the painkillers! I’m looking forward to sipping this festive cocktail, but maybe I’ll have mine in a plastic cup instead of a glass…
- 1.5 oz of your favorite clear alcohol, such as gin, vodka, or tequila
- 1 tablespoon Half-Sweet Mint Simple Syrup
- 6 oz IZZE sparkling blueberry
- Optional garnishes: blueberries, raspberries, a sprig of mint
- Pour all of the ingredients into a tall glass over ice.
- Garnish with berries and drink with a straw.
