This post has been sponsored by MARS. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Earlier this month, I hosted Mother’s Day brunch at my place. We had tri-tip breakfast tacos and a yogurt bar and mimosas, but it wasn’t until my big sister brought out a huge watermelon to distract the sun-crazy kids that I realized: summer is seriously almost here.
You’d think that being a Californian this wouldn’t be so monumental- it doesn’t snow, the weather is pretty stable, we get plenty of nice bursts of weather distraction, etc. Except- summer is so EXCITING. Everything feels more fun, the traffic is (mostly) better, each weekend is a mini-vacation. Alyssa and I are both summer babies so the season is EXTRA special as we celebrate our birthdays- and this year we even live in the same country. (This continues to be a novelty that cannot be overstated.)
When MARS reached out about working together on a few posts, I had no idea that they’d captured the summer spirit in some of my favorite classic candies. Have you SEEN these red, white, and blue M&Ms? Red, white, and blue are basically the official colors of summer; these colors remind you of long bike rides and 4th of July BBQs and Memorial Day camping. All those memories are just right for sharing, so we decided to put together a free printable which lets you share these tasty little treats with your favorite summer pals.
Here’s what you’ll need to gather:
- mason jars
- Red, White, and Blue M&Ms
- white sticker paper
- ribbon or twine
To access the printable, simple click here and check out this adorable label Alyssa created to use with the Silhouette Cameo. If you don’t have a Silhouette, it’s ok! You can print out the PDF here and get to work with some scissors.
There are so many great ways to put together a sweet summer gift:
- EXCELLENT TEACHER GIFT. What better way to send your favorite teacher best wishes at the end of the school year?
- Heading to a BBQ? It’s a great hostess gift.
- One girlfriend loved to make her sorority sisters little gifts when they scattered for the summer- these would be so cute for that!
Attach a Sweet Summer sticker to either the side of the mason jar or to the lid. If you are using a larger quart size jar, make sure you buy one with a wide mouth- the sticker won’t fit on a regular mouth.
Since Pilsbury is also getting ready for summer with their patriotic packaging, why not grab a box of brownies as a perfect pair to your M&Ms treat?
If you’re anything like me, the only way to make this gift better is making it easy to assemble the components. I’ve got just the answer for you: all these #patrioticparty items are available at Target. It get’s better, too. There’s even a Cartwheel offer to get you a nice discount. NOW YOU’RE TALKING.
We’d love to see how you put together gifts for your summer- leave us a comment below and let us know where you’re taking these sweet treats!
