Ah, prosecco- Italy’s contribution to perfect sparkling drinks. Since “sparkling” is practically my middle name, I knew exactly what to do when VOVETI sent over a delicious bottle of their craft prosecco: mix in a bit of elderflower liquer and gin for a sweet and fresh prosecco cocktail!
As you probably already know, I’m a big fan of any sparkling drink. Does it have bubbles? I’M IN. Basically unconditionally.
Even better, getting a chance to try VOVETI prosecco meant learning about a high quality drink made as a craft prosecco- only 15,000 cases are produced a year! The prosecco is a collaboration between the Italian Collavini family and the Ferrer family- that’s some major wine-making chops for such an affordable bottle.
(An aside: Alyssa and I were brainstorming cocktail ideas a few weeks ago and she asked how she might get through a huge bottle of elderflower liqueur. It appears that my tiny, pocket sized bottle is the yin to her yang.)
- VOVETI prosecco, chilled
- 1 tablespoon (1/2 ounce) elderflower liqueur
- 1 tablespoon (1/2 ounce) gin
- Add elderflower liqueur and gin to the bottom of the champagne glass or coupe. Stir gently to combine.
- Top with chilled VOVETI prosecco and serve immediately.
If you need any encouragement to make this cocktail for yourself, you should know that the official reaction from my taste tester was “Oh my GOD. That’s FANTASTIC.”
I love drinking prosecco for any occasion, but if you’re looking to serve this drink at a fun gathering remember that prosecco pairs just perfectly with cheese! I would set out a selection of triple creme and brie cheeses, along with some creamy cashews for a perfect appetizer.
