Did you know that October 17th is Sweetest Day? I hadn’t heard of the holiday before, so I went straight to Google where I found out that the day originated in Cleveland! (We all know how I feel about Cleveland. LOVE.) The rundown: Sweetest Day is the day to celebrate your friends and loved ones with small gifts so they know they’re important to you. When Izze sent me a bunch of their new Sparkling Waters, I had just the occasion: a workplace break with cold Izze Sparkling Water and my coworkers’ favorite snack.
You might remember these new organic sparkling waters from my manicure party this summer- they’re DELICIOUS. They’re also a great mid-day treat since they’re so flavorful without being full of sugar.
Want to throw your own workplace celebration? Here’s what I did:
- Tell your coworkers you have a little surprise for them.
- Try to find a spot that’s a bit out of the way so that it feels different (and thus more fun). We usually hang out in the cafe or on our back deck, but for this little break I took them up to the second floor lounge. The change was so noticeable!
- Bring their favorite treats. Popcorn goes REALLY fast around here, so it was a no-brainer.
This is my desk neighbor, Sabrina. She’s really awesome. We started at our company within a few weeks of each other and are pretty attached (even the CEO asks us where the other is when he sees us alone). It’s probably because she does cool things like completing triathlons without training for them and being really nice about sharing her chocolate covered gummy bears.
That’s Remy on the left there. She just had shoulder surgery because she’s a bad ass mountain biker who had a run in with a mean drop earlier this year so we’ve taken to calling her Broken Wing. Remy is fun and hilarious and she always happens to sit next to interesting people on airplanes. (Maybe it’s her superpower?) She’s a little bit bummed about not being able to ride her bike until March, so I’m planning to train so that we can have a ‘Welcome Back, Remy!’ ride. I’m sure I’ll be able to go at least a mile or two by then. 😉
