“I thought I knew how coconut water tasted until I came to French Polynesia. I think it’s my first time having real coconut water straight out of a freshly cut coconut (not from a box at the grocery store). You can buy them for about $2 from people selling them on the side of the road (along with bananas, mangos, papayas, pineapples and rambutans). It’s pretty amazing, but add a South Pacific sunset, a generous shot of Havana Club 7-years aged rum, and a wedge of citron and life doesn’t get much better than this. For 2 weeks, at least; I’m pretty sure I would get restless here, but maybe not? Have you ever contemplated moving to tropical paradise? Would you do it, if given the chance? Check back in to A&C in the next few weeks for the true story of someone who actually DID it.
Sorry, no links from me this week. The internet here isn’t quite reliable enough to handle my blogger-level usage 😉 xoxo.”

“While Alyssa is having a well-deserved vacation in tropical paradise, I’m freaking out about earthquakes, shooting weddings and looking for a new bicycle. Kinda random, right? Let’s talk earthquakes: first, we’ve had a lot of them lately. I know, I know, I live in California and I should expect it and be used it, etc. But last weekend we had three earthquakes in a row less than a km from my house. And then that happened AGAIN a few days later. With the large quake in Nepal recently, every tremor freaks me out. Nature, man. SO crazy.
Also, I ran into my awesome friend Ashley bopping around town a week or so ago and she was buying a bicycle. It’s been on my to-do list for a while and she motivated me! Have any recommendations for a hybrid bike that’ll work for mostly road and some fire trail rides?”
* Are you headed to the Indulge Conference in Portland at the end of the month? I am! Drop me a line, I’d love to meet you.
*A full review of The Perfect Egg is coming soon, but spoiler: it’s AMAZING. I’m making their deviled eggs for Mother’s Day brunch this weekend and cannot wait. If you are in charge of the festivities, order the book and then peek at this blog post for scrambled egg inspiration while you wait for it to ship.
*Speaking of bicycles, I enjoyed the crap out of this: The Backwards Brain Bicycle. (via Kottke) Fascinating and thought-provoking.
