Some of our favorite DIYs are the ones we get to dream up together. When I went to visit Alyssa in Cleveland last month I took along some slippers for us to jazz up. We ended up skipping them at the last moment in favor of ice cream sundaes (brilliant choice), but decided to complete the DIY on our own to show you two fun and different styles!
These slippers are cute, simple and make a great gift!
To get started, gather up:
– a pair of plain slippers in your favorite color
– your favorite glue
– a pack of small pom poms
– for the stripe of pom poms, you will also need a needle and thread in a color to match your slippers
First, stuff the toes of the slipper with some spare paper. This will keep them puffed up and ready for you to apply your design.
For the pom pom design, simply glue on the pom poms at random with a drop of glue! Once you’re done let dry for several hours before wearing.
For Alyssa’s sweet stripe design, she used the needle and thread to string the pom poms, tying the thread off at each end. Then she traced a line in fabric glue near the top of the slipper and pressed the string of pom poms along the glue.
Stringing the pom poms before applying your stripe gives the line the best chance of staying on the slipper! As with the all-over design, let your glue dry completely before you wear!
