“Do you ever just stop and take stock in your life? It’s so easy to get into a routine and take things for granted, no matter where you are or what you do. Or where you live, in our case! Things that were so fascinating when we first moved to Tokyo are less exciting now. My husband and I have a way to remind each other how crazy it is. We’ll look at each other and say ‘Remember when we lived in TOKYO?’“
*What? No. No way. Carla, can we make these in July?
*The French Laundry. Someday I will get a reservation there. Thomas Keller is probably one of the few people in this world that I get starstruck over. I had him sign a few of my books at an event in SF and I couldn’t even think clearly.
*Is $75 too much to spend on something you’ll probably only use a few times a year? I have a huge crush on these handpainted tiffin carriers in graduated sizes, but I definitely do not go on enough picnics or pack enough lunches to warrant spending this money.

“Oh boy. After four years, I’m leaving my current company. While I’m incredibly excited about the new opportunities at my next company, I have so many friends and so many memories at THIS one. I met Alyssa at this company- there is no way any other company will ever be able to compete with that! I’m battling a huge wave of sadness and nostalgia that I hope dissipates quickly (and is completely gone before I report to my new company on Monday morning!)”
* I received a full-sized sample of Michelle Phan’s Waterliner in Royal Amethyst in one of my beauty sample boxes recently. I tossed it into my toiletry bag when packing for Cancun and discovered that it was so easy to wear! It looks really average from a distance, but morphs into something pretty and unique up close. I just bought a version in turquoise!
*If you like Starbuck’s Chai Tea, have you tried the updated Oprah version created in cooperation with Teavana? It’s super tasty and less sweet/more spicy than the original version- I’m ordering it constantly since I’m not sure when it will be pulled from the menu!
*I love clean, modern kitchen accessories- just like this Drink Up Bottle Opener from Nasty Gal!
