Weekly Love Letter for February 7, 2014

Alyssa & Carla turned one year old this week!  We’re so excited!  And we’ve got a few things planned to celebrate.  We thought we’d start by sharing some of our favorite posts and moments from the past year.  Then read through to the end of the post for a really fun giveaway!

*I almost died when Buzzfeed put my Nutella cappuccino in their 33 Super-Fancy Ways to Eat More Nutella roundup.  I was sitting in my parents’ living room in Ohio with my brother and sister-in-law when I saw the crazy traffic spike that our site received.  It was exhilarating!

 

*I loved developing our wire star ornament DIY.  This was a true collaboration!  We worked on it while Carla and I were in Ohio together, and she and I both conceptualized it.  My dad helped us design the template and actually turn it into something we could share with all of you.  It was so much fun to work with together with a few of my favorite people on the blog.

 

*My new favorite recipe is Carla’s salsa.  I made a batch for our Super Bowl party but it was so good that we ate half of it the day before.  I had to make a last-minute run to the grocery store to get the ingredients to make a second batch.  This is definitely my new go-to salsa recipe!”

“The photo above is titled “It Is 1,000 Times Worse To Remove A Tattoo Than It Is To Receive One; Let This Be A Lesson To You.”  And that’s all I have to say about that!  As you can tell- this is our anniversary week and we’re SO excited about it.  A&C has done A LOT in the past year (and it doesn’t even feel like it’s been that long!).  Thanks for reading along with us and for being our chums.”

 

* Even though I love savory popcorn, I made this Strawberry Cake Batter Popcorn during the time when we used to have recipe themed weeks!  It was a touch too sweet for me, but I’ll never forget the look on my niece’s and nephew’s faces when I handed them bulging bags of Pink! Popcorn!

 

* Alyssa has made the BEST Mexican-Style pickled onions on Earth.  I have made them at least half a dozen times and there’s no way I’m stopping now.  Make some tacos and throw those babies on top!

 

* Speaking of collaborations, the Orange and Almond Sparkling Cocktail is another great example.  Getting to create posts together is always a treat, but creating something boozy AND sparkly is heaven.  (P.S.- you REALLY want to try this cocktail if you haven’t seen it before.”
