“I’m really happy to be settling back into a routine here in Tokyo. Although it was great to see our families and eat a real hot dog (Yes, it’s one of the few things we can’t find here. Leave a comment if you know where they hide the real hot dogs in Tokyo. Please?), living out of a suitcase isn’t my favorite thing in the world. Spending some time away from Japan always gives me a fresh perspective when I come back. All of the cute and convenient things about life in Tokyo that I had been taking for granted before I left are suddenly charming again. Because they find ways to inject cuteness into pretty much everything here. Like this fruit cup that I bought at our local grocery store. Adorable!”
*Have you seen the Brit + Co. post about apps that inspire creativity? Some of these sounds really interesting (especially the free ones!).
*Food52 published a list of 20 “essential dishes every cook should know.” Do you agree with the list? There were a few things on there that I found questionable. Pureed vegetable soup? Meh. And I personally think frittatas are overrated. I’ve got 14 of these dishes down pretty well, what about you?
*Rice krispie treats never sounded so. stinking. good. While one of the attractions of rice krispie treats is how easy they are to make, this recipe sounds like it might actually be worth the trouble.

“When I came back to work last week, my team and I had been moved to a new floor (and, for me, a new office). My new view is wonderful- particularly since we’ve had gorgeous sunny weather and blue skies all week. This particular section of the roof next door is right in my line of sight and I find myself constantly surprised that people go out there! All day! The balconies in our building are off limits (insurance costs?), so I’m wishing for a bit of their freedom for some moments of sweet sunshine from OUTSIDE the office.”
* Blouses are a forgotten clothing item to me, but recently they keep catching my eye. I love the fabric and how they make jeans just a touch more special (especially when compared to my usual cotton-fabric-everything). I especially love this green drapey dream at Lulu’s.
*Thick fluffy towels in an anchor pattern? I will take a whole set of you! (I am quite predicatable.)
* I’m loving this article on 10 Creative Rituals You Should Steal. (And a bonus link since the list format just really, really works for me: 24 Invaluable Skills to Learn Online.)
