Gah! It’s November already! We’re not quite ready for snow and the holiday season craziness yet . . . are you?
Here are some of our favorite finds for this week:
Bon Appetit’s Potluck Dinner Party Rules: This article is brilliant. Everyone should read it before the holiday parties begin.
Roasted Mushrooms from A Cup of Jo: Would it be terrible to eat this as a meal by itself? We can’t imagine a much better meal than warm, crusty bread with buttery roasted mushrooms and garlic. And what an easy appetizer or side dish for entertaining!
Food52’s fresh pasta tutorials: Nothing make us want to carbo-load more than cold weather. Which means these Food52 how-to collaborations with Mario Batali’s people couldn’t have come at a better time. They have a video on how to make pasta dough, and a second one on how to roll it out. Man, they make it look easy. It’s NOT, unfortunately. Or maybe fortunately? We’d probably weigh about 10 lbs more if it were easier to make fresh pasta!
The Mjia Chronicle’s Five Truth About Tamales: Do you have an out-of-the-box tradition for your holiday meals? Carla’s family gathers in early November or December for a joint cookie and tamale making party. The tamales get frozen in batches and taken out for Christmas! Not only does this reduce the stress of another holiday meal, but it’s a fun tradition that everyone looks forward to.
If you’re planning on making some tamales soon, check out this post of quick tips to make your tamales delicious.
Clean Your Cast Iron Skillet: Have a cast iron skillet? Our friend Ashley over at Our Little Apartment recently posted this easy guide with the best way to clean it and keep it properly seasoned. We concur!
The Amani Pop-Up Shop: Ashlee of Where My Heart Resides recently traveled to Africa and among the wonderful outcomes of her adventure is this great initiative: a pop-up shop of goods to support Amani Liberia. Read some more about the organization and head over to the shop and snap up a few of the items still available! We can’t wait for our order to arrive.
Alyssa and I both contributed to Happy Joyful Day’s 31 Days of Kindness project. Read Alyssa’s post about making someone feel welcome and Carla’s post about writing anonymous love notes!
Ashley of Saratoga Food Fanatics linked to our Crunchy Peanut Butter Cups in her made at home Halloween treat round-up!

Sure, this is great and everything, but where’s the “How to get your fiancé to properly clean a cast iron skillet despite your repeated workshops?”
Ha! But the potluck dinner party rules comes just in time for my blogger get together! Can you guys fly in or….? 🙂
