Homemade popsicles: Popsicles are a fun and delicious way for adults and kids alike to beat the summer heat, but most of the store-bought ones are full of sugar and preservatives. Making your own lets you control what goes into them and also lets you get creative! Some of our favorite flavors are zesty chili lime watermelon, creamy Nutella Fudgesicles, and rich orange creamsicles. And we love Martha Stewart’s Firecracker Pops, just in time for the Fourth of July. photo from marthastewart.com
Punk Domestics: This website is full of d.i.y.-type food projects. They collect and organize recipes and techniques for canning and preserving, cheese making, home brewing and wine making, charcuterie, and more. Our recent favorite recipes found on the site include strawberry rhubarb jam, roasted tomato and jalapeño ketchup, and homemade tahini. If you’re more ambitious, there are also recipes for guanciale, ginger beer and homemade cream cheese.
Ikat Pillows: We love these neutral pillows with a hybrid ikat and chevron print. They would look fantastic on almost any solid color sofa or chair, but how great would they be paired with another print?
Cutting Board Gifts: Wedding season is here and if you’re looking for a unique gift for your favorite foodie couple’s nuptials, may we suggest these darling personalized boards from Richwood Creations? They also carry gorgeous pizza boards, coasters and rolling pins. These are too good to confine to just weddings- we want them for our own kitchens!
Getting an organizational head start: It may not be the right time of year for WEARING scarves, but now that we’ve stopped donning them daily we think it’s the perfect time to come up with a great solution for storing them. With all the fabrics, weights and colors we own, a clever hanging system like this one featured on Apartment Therapy MIGHT fit them all.
Tazo Cucumber White Tea: It’s no secret we love tea here at Alyssa and Carla. But sometimes the heat catches up with us too and we have to switch to iced to ward off the higher temps and blazing sun. Carla boosts the light, crisp flavor with lemon and Alyssa considered lychee. You could try cucumber slices, mint or even a spash of sparkling water!
Note: We can’t find this on Target shelves here in CA anymore and it has mysteriously disappeared from Tazo’s own website. We can still find it at Safeway and Whole Foods locally, for now. If you see it and want to try it, definitely grab it soon!
